As a result of the Swiss vote on February 9th 2014, Swiss researchers who had obtained a ERC Starting Grant and were moving their lab back to Switzerland had to be give the grant back to the ERC. Thankfully the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) created Transfer Grants to compensate for these “lost” grants. A UniBasel news describes this in more detail.
